Mark your calendars for Labor Day Weekend!

St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church from Akron, along with its Soccer Club Gavrilo Princip will be hosting the 21st Serbian North American Soccer Tournament from Friday, August 30th through Sunday, September 1st, 2013 in Akron.  The main purpose of this event is to maintain an annual sporting event in North America while bringing people from various communities together.

This is the largest event awarded to the Serbian community in Akron in our 100-year history in Northeast Ohio.  We expect about 50 soccer teams and more than 1000 soccer players from about 35 cities in the United States and Canada with many guests from across North America to attend the event.

Our soccer club has been a member of the Lake Erie Soccer League, an associated member of U.S. Soccer Federation and FIFA since 1998. In recognition and to celebrate 15 years of successful competition, the club was awarded to host 2013 North American Soccer Tournament. Since its founding, the club has helped many young people in Akron, to successfully transition their lives from childhood to adulthood and has become a social and sporting force and unifier of the community in the wider Northeast Ohio area.

This is the largest Serbian Diaspora event in North America. Our hope is that, with thousands of attendees, this event will generate excellent economic benefit for our local community and strengthen links between various local communities in Northeast Ohio and North America.
